As we write, US forces have completed their ninth consecutive night of strikes on Iran. What began as retaliation for attacks on commercial shipping has widened into something far bigger. CENTCOM is now hitting bridges, railways, tunnels, airports and desalination plants across southern Iran, in what analysts
describe as an attempt to isolate the south of the country and prise the IRGC’s grip off the Strait of Hormuz.

The naval blockade of Iranian ports has resumed. Over the weekend an Iranian missile attack on a US air base in Jordan killed two US service members, bringing the American death toll in this conflict to 16. Iran’s new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei is promising “unforgettable lessons”. Trump says the strikes continue “until I say it’s enough”.

Nearly five months of war. So is the market fully digesting this? Honestly, yes, and that is the remarkable part. On Monday July 13, Gold, Oil, Equities and Bonds all sold off on the fourth strike wave. Bitcoin moved 0.3%. Brent sits around $80 to $85, not $120. Gold has actually declined to around $4,085 despite active combat in the world’s most important energy corridor. VP JD Vance, the administration’s lead negotiator, has admitted publicly that military force alone cannot reopen the Strait and that talking is the only way out. The market heard that and priced it.
